Save Net Neutrality: Rep. DesJarlais Should Embrace A Rare Bipartisan Opportunity

83% of Americans Support Net Neutrality, including 72% of Republicans

MURFREESBORO, TN – Last week, the US Senate voted for a bill to save “Net Neutrality” that would overturn changes made to internet regulations by the FCC last year. Those rules prevent ‘fast lanes’ and ensure a level playing field.

“It was very encouraging to see a bipartisan group of US Senators put politics aside and protect the internet for everyone. As a teacher, I’ve seen the internet revolutionize how we educate our kids, and I don’t want to see control of it given over to big corporations,” said Mariah Phillips, candidate for Congress in Tennessee’s 4th District.

A recent poll done by the University of Maryland showed overwhelming, bipartisan support for Net Neutrality. 83 percent of all Americans favored maintaining the rules protecting Net Neutrality, including 75% of Republicans. Now that the Senate has acted, some Representatives are working to have a similar vote in the House.

“This is one of the rare times when the American people are in complete agreement on an issue. It should be a no-brainer for our Congressman to support Net Neutrality,” added Phillips.
